I have experience with this and my opinion as someone with no medical training or research isn't that alcohol necessarily attaches to your DNA or whatever but that the mental barriers that prevent addiction in normal people can be handed down via genetics. Maybe I'm the crazy person here, but all the comments about "oh yeah my trans kid also has a ton of behavioural issues/mental problems" but there's no putting two and two together, like "hey maybe my 9 year old isn't non-binary, they're just a kid with mental issues that is being influenced by what's currently popular on social media".
At some point, if three of your kids are trans and the others are "gleeful like they're all in the same club too". why don't you consider "maybe I shouldn't have been so supportive, maybe I should have looked into mental disturbances issues".

The reason why trans was removed as a mental illness from the DSM was because trans lobbyists forced it.
Here's some activists arguing that anything transgender or transvestite should be removed from the DSM entirely.
Biology textbooks now make a single sentence saying "sometimes people don't feel that their identity doesn't match their biological s*x" which trans activists use as a way to say "seeeeeee? It's science!" Same reason -- activism and lobbying, not science.
Gender Studies is almost always its own department at universities. It certainly isn't part of the Science Department, and the Social Studies and Humanities Departments won't take them either. They started their own department, whose only export is forcing other departments to conform to them.
