Cable internet came to my area before DSL so we went from 56.6 baud to ludicrous speed overnight

Did you have the shared neighborhood bandwidth? I remember buddies setting up their torrents/limewire/kazaa for like 2am or else the speeds would be awful

I think it started that way, "it'll go as fast as the bandwidth lets it go." I remember my buddy set up an FTP and sent me Quake 2 in a few minutes. I guess that's only impressive for its day because it was around 30 MB, you can take a photo with your phone bigger than that.

I remember downloading episodes of South Park because it didn't air in my town. It took five or six hours and it wasn't good quality.

It was a mid sized Canadian city and it was during the first season so none of the channels started airing it yet
