:marseyluthercringe: Popular Protestant apologist "Redeemed Zoomer" admits defeat and will cease making content :!marseyluthercringe:

Here's the /r/Catholicism thread discussing his announcement, I don't use :marseygroomer: unlike our jannies and it's not my fault the announcement was made there.

I might not have made this thread over here but a few of our resident :marseyluthersoy: have taken it upon themselves to criticize His Holiness this morning so I thought I'd balance it out with something wholesome.

@Eleganza remember the other day when I said he doesn't accurately represent the positions of Protestants let alone Catholics/Orthodox? Well, he agreed and decided to call it quits.

!Christians !Catholics :marsey#nouautism: Be respectful and I won't :marseyban: any heretics.

What's your take on holy rollers

Pentecostals are the most visible present iteration of them, but they go back further to 19th century Methodists. My views are generally negative, they mistake positive emotional experience for God and private revelations. I think this is a criticism that could be levied at the expression/nature of faith of many lay Evangelicals, as well. A term coined by sociologists that has filtered into usage in Christian circles is "moralistic therapeutic deism":

A God exists who created and ordered the world and watches over human life on earth.

God wants people to be good, nice, and fair to each other, as taught in the Bible and by most world religions.

The central goal of life is to be happy and to feel good about oneself.

God does not need to be particularly involved in one's life except when God is needed to resolve a problem.

Good people go to heaven when they die.

This type of belief is neither Orthodox nor orthodox to more serious Protestants and I find holy rollers would be a prime example. Having said that they're sometimes funny for memes etc.
