Women have found a way to convince the Pope to allow women into the priesthood: constant nagging and speaking over the Pope

"Evil must not be hidden, it must be in the open, discovered, as some of the abused did with courage … so that the abuser is judged, whether they be a layman or a laywoman, a priest or a bishop, that they be judged. The word of God is clear."

That language drew applause, but on another front, the Pope's treatment of the role of women in the Church, some Belgians weren't so pleased.

During the Sunday Mass, every time a woman took the microphone, some women in the crowd stood dressed in white as a protest over the refusal to ordain female priests.

The gesture came a day after the Catholic University of Louvain publicly upbraided Francis for expressing positions on the role of women it called "deterministic and reductive".

Remember how women on twitter were saying that they don't want to infiltrate all the male-only spaces :marseyeyeroll:

He also condemned instances when "a woman wants to be a man" – remarks that drew criticism from the university itself, and from students in attendance.

Catholicism recognizes three equal authorities in matters of faith - Scripture, the Magisterium, and Tradition. Latin has been the official language of the Church since the 4th century with St. Jerome's Vulgate being the official translation for the entire Church for almost 1500 years. The inscriptions on the Holy Cross proclaiming Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in His Crucifixion were, per the Gospels, also in three languages: Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.

As far as the inner Church politics it's not so much about the liturgical language (that's the narrative at the level of the laity, and understandably many old people including Tolkien were very upset when the Mass changed suddenly overnight) and is instead much more about a shift from the "Popes Pius" (IX-XII) era of neo-Scholasticism and a moral theology centered around St. Alphonsus Liguori towards a Church in open dialogue with the modern world, with the Eastern Christians, and to a lesser extent with the Protestants as well.

About six or seven years ago when I returned to practicing my faith it kinda struck me that if Jesus was truly God and the Church founded by Him, nothing else can possibly be more important. :marseykneel: I'm somewhere above the average Catholic but below a true expert and anyone claiming to have thorough knowledge of 2000 years of history would be lying :marseypinocchio2: but I appreciate your kind words. This is the one subject you'll reliably get me to be serious and find sources if I don't have an answer off the top of my head.
