Tbh, I don't really care about that shit. Debates are all performative anyways and voting candidates based on who performs better instead of their policy and stances is r-slurred.

Personality is important in politics. Most of the job is convincing other people to do things for you so you mainly need to be a good salesman. Bernie Sanders had policies but he wouldn't have been able to enact them because nobody in congress likes him.

Not really. There are tons of official statements and policy documents that actually give you a clearer picture of their stances than these debates, which honestly don't always do justice. I've seen so many leftist strags unintentionally hype Trump up because Biden didn't perform well in the debate, eventhough anyone who isn't too chudbrained can see Trump is way worse for America.

The presidential (candidate) debate which most blows my mind is the 1980 Ronald Reagan vs. George H. W. Bush one:
It's hard to imagine a civil and intelligent AmeriKKKan political debate like that today, let alone a Rethuglican one.
How far America has fallen since then.....

The debates are supposed to inform you about their policy and stances though.

I mean, sure, for the last 20 years (tops) you could find their policy documents on the internet. Before that not so much.

That's what I meant originally. Debates don't matter now, and anyone reminiscing about better debate days is r-slurred.
