You know I was reading a bunch of history articles right now and I realized, the US invented nukes, the US won ww2, then the US won the space race, then the US helped set up the post ww2 rules based order, then they invented the microchip, then the US helped set up international organizations like the world trade organization, after this they invented the smartphone, after that they invented CRISPR, after that they invented AI, after that they are currently working on humanoid robots.
Basically the US has been stacking wins decade on decade and that is why they are the most powerful country in the world, and every 20 to 30 years one country surpasses them in one single field and everybody thinks the US led world order is ending.
It's kinda crazy how much of the modern world is just the American inventions world.
It's even crazier that in the 20th century multiple major inventions were still being created by non-Americans.
Funnily enough the British invented the internet.
If you look at the 21st century inventions list though, the list is now far heavier with American inventors than the previous century, suggesting that the US has actually advanced a whole lot further up in the tech and creation department in comparison to the previous century, leaving only nation states like South Korea and Japan at best to provide any additional relevant technologies.
I honestly think there will come a point in time where only the US will be inventing major stuff and all the other nation states will just by the research supply chain that flows up towards the US for final product creation.

the British invented the internet
This is a bad take. A very bad take. Your historical illiteracy makes me shudder. I wouldn't flaunt your ignorance by saying that anyone other than America invented the Internet.
Seriously, the roots of it are in a plan in the early 1960s (back when systems engineering chads were in power) for how America should have a strategy for the whole computer thing. And ideas back then for how to have a resilient network that could survive a nuclear war. There's hundreds of advances in hardware and software that are as important as Tim Berners-Lee and his WWW. He just was at the right place at the right time. That was literally something my dad could have done and he could have done it better. I mean frick, I could do it myself if you gave me a little time. This did not require any great skill or insight. There are many legit geniuses involved in inventing the internet, people who came up with ideas the rest of us never could, but he was not one of them.

Actually, they did rely a lot on their predecessors' aeronautical research. And they never could have made a plane without the recently-invented internal combustion engine...

Well if you really aren't trolling me and need me to disprove your point: The internet began with the ARPAnet program begun by the US DoD in 1966. Tim Berners-Lee created the HTTP protocol and dumbed down SGML into HTML about 30 years later. This was the beginning of the WWW.
yes so he created the internet. ARPA net is not the internet. It's like calling a LAN network the internet. ARPAnet is considered the forerunner of the internet.
Correction, expanding west. The UK started colonizing in the 16th century. They peaked in 1922 400-500 years later. At current rates of western expansion since the 1920s, the entire world will be a western union in 400-500 years easily.

The problem is you are making a very obvious point and not giving us a chance to feel smart by arguing with you.
