Thank god for German reunification. That whole process seems like a nightmare, and confusing especially when all you have is a bundle of papers and a 15 minute video before you essentially go driving through hostile territory.

There's a lot of bad things about living in 2024 but at least we don't have to deal with any fricking East German cops.

I wonder why they were instructed only to deal with Soviet soldiers and to disregard the East German authorities. The UK recognised the GDR in the 70s.
