The civil war was the most deadly, boring, large scale war in modern history aside from WW1 trench warfare.
If they'd have just waited until things were slightly more mechanized and everyone was using smokeless powder cartridges and using steampunkerino tanks and shit then everyone could have died a lot of quicker and in cooler ways instead of casualties being two-thirds by disease.
