When he was winning he won really big. Like in New Guinea and the Philippines he wiped out a huge part of the Japanese army at very little cost to us. And (as Ridgway said) he was the only person smart enough and with enough guts to do Incheon. But when he lost he would get really depressed or something and just not give any orders for days. Happened both here and 1941.
MacArthur was an absolute tool. The real heros of that era were Eisenhower, for orchestrating the most complex invasion in human history with extreme competence, Omar Bradley for keeping the momentum going, and Matthew Ridgeway, the Gigachad Paratrooper who made the world safe for kpop and pioneered the tactic of "simply melt your enemies with overwhelming firepower"
