Euthanasia for the mentally ill? Assisted suicide now accounts for 5% of the yearly deaths in the Netherlands :marseymaid: :marseycheemsdog: :marseyflagnetherlands:

The article

https://archive.li/0vsgW

In 2021 Belgium registered nearly 2,700 assisted suicides, with 24 involving psychiatric illnesses as the primary diagnosis—down from 45 in 2014. In the Netherlands, euthanasia among psychiatric patients appears to be rising, albeit from a low base: there were 115 cases in 2021, up from one in 2003. The most common psychiatric diagnosis for assisted deaths in both countries was a mood disorder, such as bipolar disorder (see charts 3 and 4).

Over for BPD

But data are worryingly patchy, and not directly comparable. In Belgium, for example, only one diagnosis is recorded per case, even if patients suffer from multiple conditions. In the Netherlands, Mr De Hert says that detailed medical histories are available for only around half of all cases; the rest lack clear diagnoses.

How hard is it to keep yourself safe really? A few handfuls of hemlock and a bottle of whiskey is guaranteed to do it even if you can't rope. Both of those things you can find within four hours.

I never understood needing to go for euthanasia unless you're stuck in a bed.

In the "two arms and a head" the guy (who was somewhat of an expert on the subject) pointed out that there was in fact annoying obstacles:

I did not want much from the world in dying. To be able to put my affairs in order without fear of being taken prisoner and treated like I was insane. To say goodbye to those I loved without the same fear. To die a painless death without worrying about leaving behind something gruesome. And to be comforted as I died. When a person has absolutely nothing left and is facing annihilation, all he wants is not to be alone.

He couldn't even have his book reviewed.

It's mainly a spectacle to spite people for going after this. Having an entire team of people and their families commiserate and seethe about you going thru a lengthy bureaucratic process all publicised is pure undiluted attention before the cresendo of attention is reached where people literally watch you keep yourself safe.

For mental disorders though? I'm not sure what the cancer rates are for men vs. women.

>learn to appreciate the wonders of gods creation

>learn a bit of self reliance because i have accomplished something for the first time in a long time

>no longer want to kill myself
