My highest BMI was when I was 295 pounds, I'm 5'7.

Not even once did I struggle with seating, stairs, walking, etc., and I'm a pack-a-day smoker at that.

I think some people who are :marseychonker: their whole lives don’t realize how easily normal people can do things. Their definition of “struggle” is off

My absolute favorite. Even better than Berserk and Vagabond. Fighting scenes are as if you're watching a fighting movie and some episodes are genuinely touching.

Many people who have "struggled" their whole lives would beg to differ with your definition of "struggle." Perhaps you should try walking a mile in their shoes before making such ignorant and insensitive comments.

You are dramatically overestimating the capabilities of someone with a BMI of 46 if you think they can half-butt the elliptical for 15 minutes.

I highly recommend the episode of the podcast Maintenance Phase about bmi.

...Bmi is garbage and maintainence phase is amazing.

The Maintenance Phase episode on BMI was such an eye opener.

Maintenance Phase is a health science and pop culture podcast that debunks health and wellness-industry myths and discusses anti-fatness in mainstream American culture. It is hosted by Aubrey Gordon and Michael Hobbes. Launched in 2020, the podcast has addressed topics such as The Keto diet, Presidential Fitness Test, Weight Watchers (diet), and various fad diets.[1]

Aubrey Gordon is an American author and activist who writes about fat liberation.[2]

do other countries have eating disorder groups/supports that actually help people? my amerilard friend went to an ED group for binge eaters and got taught that any kind of dieting (intermittent fasting even) was disordered eating, and some nonsense about 'intuitive eating' and stuff. so no real skills to help get over it just back pats about the thing that is killing her :marseytears:

BMI is a good tool to judge if you’re a healthy weight for like 95% (or higher tbh) of the population. this, along with every other BMI post is just

:#marseychonker2::#marseycope:

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

BMI has low sensitivity (~50%) but high specificity (>95%). So the issue with it is that it is missing too many obese people, not that it's misdiagnosing all those with obese BMIs.

I bet these people think theyre "healthy and fine" because they completely lack any frame of reference. If youve been a lardass all your life, youre not gonna notice that you get winded far sooner, or that the seats dont fit, because thats the normal state for you.
