in fairness Morocco depends pretty heavily on tourism so this one was honestly an outlier. Still tragic obviously but not as expected as some areas of the world. I don't know any exact deets of the aftermath but the impression I got is the perpetrators were caught by local authorities and likely got eye for an eye style justice. They fricked with the money coming into the country and no matter your ideology that big no no. I could be wrong about all this of course it's just what I inferred after reading about the story.

It's a relatively safe country for travellers, however you still need to pay some attention and try to reduce the chances of bad stuff happening.
I'm actually planning a trip there for 2023 and I don't really see any risks in the cities so I'll go with a more casual approach on those, but I'll definitely be more cautious in the Atlas, maybe even go with a tour.
More isolated, smaller rural villages and towns, and I guess (perhaps wrongly) that it may be overall more conservative. Even if I find out it's 100 safe, I still wouldnt risk camping on my own during the night in a country with a different culture and where I may not find someone to whom I can speak to due to language. I'll just move between villages and spend the night in a hotel or something.
