If you want @AverageBen10Enjoyer's opinion then Starbies has never had good coffee and has turned into a milkshake shack. Customers still expect to be served quickly but now want a drink with 3 syrups, 4 foams and 2 different milks. Also a lot of Starbies have changed from coffee shops into drive thru/mobile order huts; hardly any seats and no traditional coffee shop ambiance.
You're not here for my opinion though, let's see what Daily Mail commenters think.
Long waits for an inferior product that's overpriced. That's like going to a government office and expecting a good outcome.
Daily Mail user Intelligent Skeptic says
Thanks for your response and your analysis of the Starbucks wait time. I have no doubt that you are correct that the clientele cause their own traffic jam - at least in part. (There is the great coffee ordering scene from LA Story which exemplifies your comment). And although you overlooked this point, I think Starbucks had something going for it at its patio equipped stores. I used to bring my 200 pounds of canine companions with me after we hit the dog park for an hour or so. The "Can I pet thems" were non-stop. The puppies seemed fine with it as well. Especially Peepeeens the Golden Retriever. What a ham.
Thank you for that incoherent babble!
Let's not forget the aggressive grab for tips as well. A close friend was there this weekend, got a bottle of water out of the case, and set on the counter to pay. The employee actively asked for a tip, and when the friend declined, the employee said "but don't you want to tip?" She then explained that It goes to her hair and nails getting done. A tip on a $3 bottle of water with no service other than ringing it up? No.
I'm not sure that happened.
Being woke didn't help their cause. More and more, consumers are spending their money with like-minded businesses.
Right wing coffee shops win again.
Starbucks was once a unique experience. However now there are so many coffee houses with better coffee, service & ran by locals. When Starbucks began to tell cops not to come & let anyone use the bathrooms & started all the BLM &LQBTQ they lost a lot of customers & they are not coming back.
I don't go to Starbucks anymore because the employees are always so odd. It's like they recruit from a different planet.
I laughed when they instituted the rule that non-customers could use their bathrooms because denying non-customers from using their bathrooms was somehow racist. The result? The homeless started using their bathrooms to shoot-up heroin.....LOL
You're paying $8 for a single shot of espresso mixed in with a cup of water or milk. Add in tax and a tip and let's say you're paying $9 per cup.
You can get a very nice home espresso machine for about $300. 20 cups worth if extremely high quality espresso beans is about $20, so let's say a total investment of $350 to also cover milk and any other little extras.
It's cheaper to buy your espresso machine, silly expensive beans, organic unpasteurized whole milk, and make your own than it is to buy Starbucks just 39 times. Faster too, because it only takes about 5 minutes to brew up a double espresso from scratch.
BTW, my daughter is a certified Starbuck barista. Guess who never buys Starbucks.
Not properly trained? But a previous comment said his daughter is a Starbucks certified batista. Is that not equivalent to a diploma?
They have to prove they support hamas
And they are rude and obnoxious at my local Starbucks. Can't stand their elitist attitude. Ffs, they make coffee. And 1/2 the time they look like they haven't bathed in months. I personally believe it's too late for them to clean up their act.
All GOOD points.

Look, I'm not going to also buy an expensive coffee grinder and grind the beans each morning and distribute them in the portafilter with needles then tamp them down before I even put them in the machine

What type of coffee grinder/machine do you use? We just do a simple pour over, very inexpensive and approaches a consistent quality.

I use a Clever Dripper with a £200 grinder. It tastes good. Coffee has become some really dumb hipster nonsense since lockdown. I blame that poncey British YouTuber.

Over in the States it's been a hipster thing for a long time to get into good coffee. I'm cheap and my wife only rarely has a cup so I just go with the least involved step up from a drip machine. That thing looks neat, though. Might pick one up.

Most decent espresso machines have a grinder built in lol. You also dont need to portafilter. Using my Breville is literally 3 steps.
