I own Strive but I literally only played it for a few hours lol. I would play it more but I'm currently stuck in a very long lasting depressive episode, I actually haven't been able to play anything for at least a month now.

Guilty Gear's story and characters really drew me in. Faust, Bedman, Asuka and Leo are especially my favorites, depressed-forever-aloners with no super happy ending in sight. Seems kinda weird I know… But these kinds of characters make me feel so much better. Plus I can imagine them in as many happy circumstances as I want to without breaking canon.

Oh also Happy Chaos because big bad go brrr… Seriously I f*cking love villains so much.

Been getting stuff together for an EVO retro but I needed some SMART PEOPLE opinions on these gigabrained takes

I just started playing Street fighter, never played Any other besides 6. The Modern control implementation was a good thing at least to me, I can do crazy combos that deal good damage & look good while doing it. I usually teabag classic players cause it's just funny , the fact that you got beat by a modern control player has to be sad for them so I rub salt on the wound. How ever i feel like I might be hard stuck plat, my question is, How long did it take some of You to learn classic specially on Guile? Im open to the idea of learning classic but with a full time job, hot ethnic gf, and adult responsibilities i feel that I'll just be in the training ground for hours without having any fun. Top 6 instead of 8 sucks. There was so much downtime in T7 top 6, it killed me slowly.

Also a shit ton of ads. Announcements were garbage.

They had SO MANY PEOPLE in there... they should have gone ram and made an EVO to remember. Instead they just the frick out of it

Hey again fighters! I have some considerations for the tournament.

Games should be picked one week or 3 days before tournament to allow for preparation.

Games should be restricted to fightcade to allow the highest amout of potential players

I think it'd be best as a bi-monthly tournament. That way there's more chances for it lining up with potential players schedules.

I ended up watching less than I thought I would. Day started off with a Rising panel, where they announced a literally who character and talked about some stuff in the game. It felt kinda surreal watching them talk about the Fall guys mode at EVO.

Overall didn't care much for the panel. My hype stays dead as long as they hold on to the r-slurred decisions.

After that there was a GGST panel and... my god it was something else. That panel was so bad it kinda poisoned the rest of the day for me.

I realize they wanna announce shit at finals but why even have a panel at that point if you're not gonna talk about ANYTHING worthwhile

Then I watched a bit of Max... he watched a bit of SoulCal and KI. don't care for both games. although I would play SoulCal if it wasn't dead and buried. Game got fricking Geralt and 2B, how would one not play that?

I watched a bit of SF6. nauseating game. FGs are so much more than that pile of garbage. i hate sf so much it's unreal

I watched Diego r*pe some poor Sim player

Honestly I'm not sure if it's just me being r-slurred but I find EVO kinda complicated to watch with so many alternative streams. apparently there was a gbvsr side tournament going on that I missed. I'm gonna watch the vod on that.

Hey fighters! I'd like for us to begin organizing our own weeekly tournaments to get more engagement for our hole.

Rules are as follows:

Every thursday a fundraising thread will be held, where all donaters get to nominate one game.

The following friday a voting thread with the nominations will be held. In case of any ties the game with more donater votes wins. So even if someone else nominates the game you want, you should still contribute to the prize pool.

The tournament itself will be held on saturday, 5pm EST as that shouldn't be too late for euros like me or too early for Americans and Brazilians. Sign ups at 3pm at the lastest, make a challonge account.

I'm thinking about making a youtube account for this so the tournament can be broadcast in our rDrama chat. So if you nominate a game, you should be willing to host a livestream in case I don't have it.

With evo around the corner I think it is a good time to dive into a little bit of fighting game drama history for those unmolested by FGC drama

CONTEXT

EVO is the biggest fighting games tournament in the west which has a storied history of the highest level of fighting game play see... But I'm not here to talk about any of that. It takes place annually in Los Vegas.

It used to be run by a certain "Mr. Wizard".

The main thing to know is this fat frick ran evo for about two decades at this point, and had decided he wanted to go legit around 2018-2019. This lead to two infamousish situations

1. Core Values

If you are unfamiliar, DoA is a porn game that pretends to be a fighting game. There was a goof where Evo featured a trailer of beautiful women grappling each other and this was NOT OKAY and the FGC needed to let people know this! This came around the time they did a cringe "I'm a fighter!" advertising campaign to try and get people to take them seriously as a fighting game...

To basically no success lol, currently the DOA franchise survives as a softcore porn gacha game

2. Canceling people for things like saying Neighbor

Someone caught in this sting was a certain beloved FGC character...

Note, LTG said Neighbor on this stream, something no one in the FGC had ever done before this point

Ohh... well at least this time they were consistent

Consistency was key to their efforts to clean house

DRAMA

Funny enough, the hero of this story was LTG of all people, who started this entire shitshow with a comment of, "Mr Wizard ought to be hit for doing crimes instead of people saying BIPOC on stream."

As it turns out, Mr. Wizard had been abusing his power for a long fricking time

Remember, its' not incorrect to say Mr. Wizard was the most influential person in the FGC, and he was straight up using his influence to r*pe kids.

Don't worry, he was just young and reckless!

As major FGC figures, it was rumored that Ultra David and Fat B-word James Chen knew about it. As they are mature individuals they responded with the exact amount of grace you would expect:

About everyone pulled out of Evo and he was BANISHED

Of course now with Mr. Wizard being ousted the FGC has never ever had to deal with any kind of grooming or p-dophile allegations, nor are any such things going on in the 's where the majority of the hardcore community interact!

And then came Queen Pokimane and the day was saved!

Evo is in good hands now... surely someone who cares about the FGC and will be able to guide it to heights never seen before!
