Mad Max isn't in it. It's a prequel focusing on Furiosa. But that's not what I'm talking about. Visually it looks bad in many places. The first film was feminist but still a great action movie.

Fury Road had great characters all around, and it was everything a Mad Max movie was supposed to be.

You meet characters as they are in that moment and without much background. A bunch of crazy cars drive fast and bunch of explosions happen to tell the story.

Character development spinoffs are completely antithetical to Mad Max.

As an exception I allow them to tell this dude's back story, and why he wears red onesie jammies with a Telvanni bonemold helmet
