Was joker 2 really that bad?

Genuinely curious if the word of mouth killed the movie.

Sounds like the guy wanted to try something David Lynch would do and it failed with audiences spectacularly (just like Lynch would).

The character is an absolute dullard, which the first one insisted upon. Actually not from the Scorsese movies, Rupert Pupkin is interestingly verbal, as is Travis Bickle, it's some kind of weird 2000s "Lost in Translation" thing--your art film hero can't talk, because they're an idiot. It arguably ruined the first movie already, and doesn't do the sequel any favors.

It's not strictly that it's bad in quality, it's just not the movie anybody wanted to see.

"Hey we made a sequel to Stranger Things but it's a cooking show. Why is nobody interested??"

It was not that bad, but the first one really struck a cord and the 2nd one was pretty average slop. IMO some of the story in Joker II was just things happening so things can happen, so it felt pretty boring.

the gary puddles scene was excellent though. Felt out of place and made me wish the whole movie was like that.
