Apparently the source material is even more ridiculous.
But that's pretty much what I think of this film, it's so over the top which sort of makes it enjoyable. Hopkins played a similar campy role on Coppola's schlock Dracula film, and you could tell he was having fun doing it.

Manhunter is a crime thriller lambs is a straight up horror movie. But yeah there is a reason a lot of people still dont know about manhunter even among people who really like silence of the lambs.
