The modern woke Puritans have replaced Christianity as sexlessness incarnate

https://old.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1gb6es6/teens_want_less_sex_in_movies_and_tv_shows_study/

Also I love how both articles and subhuman Redditors have this banal binary distinctions for s*x and sexuality in their media

Where as unoriginal and predictable as the tides, that zoomers have infinite porn to Jack off to, and that is the reason they don't want even modern sexuality, let alone s*x

And they refuse to acknowledge this modern liberal secular puritanism

I know majority of rdrama is in actuality liberal, despite all your chudposting, so you yanks have your bubbles even here, but IRL when I've talked to normies apolitical peeps who have relationships, even they have noticed the decisive asexuality in the largest Hollywood slop media, compared to just more than a decade ago.

Chuds and chudtubers like Critical Drinker and their ilk had attributed most new Food girlboss protagonists as being asexul, like Rey from Nu Star Wars, since the Ball 🏀 and chain ⛓️ was too sexist for a kween

But have now after 5 years of slop like Rangs of power, Willow, Witcher, every Amazon and Netflix shit show, Wheel of woke, and so on

Have come to realise there is a new modern secular puritanism at work here.

When we talk about sexlessness, we don't talk about the absence of porn on family media, but the sheer gulf of no relationships, millennials truly are the incel generation

Name me one movie that was improved or would have been improved with the addition of a s*x scene.

It's literally a non issue, you're conflating it with the problem that people don't breed, in which case what you're complaining is at best just a symptom of the problem, and at worst a completely unrelated phenomenon. Nine times out of ten s*x in film is just a cheap shortcut by the filmmakers to show relationship or closeness between 2 characters without having to go through the labour of actually writing the said character interactions, and the one remaining case will be the author satusfying his own voyeuristic or fetishistic fantasies.

This isn't the first time you make a post like this and frankly I don't see what's so weird about wanting to have more movies that you could enjoy in a social setting with family or friends without it being awkward. After all, from my experience at least, it's not like there's actually less s*x scenes on TV, it's only the demand for them that is going down

It was or is on Amazon Prime and got into my recommendations so yeah I do know what it is in the broadstrokes. I want to say reviews called it one note and the premise is more offensive to me than, say, Life of Brian. Religious humor walks a fine line between laughing with or laughing at. :marseyshrug:

It's not making fun of religion at all, the whole inspiration for it was the guy that wrote and directed it ended up with "velocipastor" while trying to type velociraptor and pictured a priest that could turn into a dinosaur and used his power to fight crime. It's a really stupid movie, and he does leave the priesthood at the end to focus on fighting crime but he's still catholic and believes it's where God wants him to be

I dont think you'd be offended at all

You're probably a desexualised :marseytrain: but normal straight people (and strags) enjoy watching hot actors and actresses get shirtless and get it on even if the s*x is fake. Maybe grow up and leave your parent's house because adults don't tend to constantly watch movies with their parents and there's absolutely nothing awkward about watching a s*x scene in a movie with your adult friends.

The Scottish philosopher !sophistry David Hume, in his The History of England, commented on how Calvinist (Puritan) theology wasn't so much a traditional religious doctrine, as it was the world's first systematic political ideology. I can try to pull quotes if you're interested. :marseythinkorino: I would argue they're not the "new" Puritans they're just the hyper-post-Christian strain of what has always existed in American culture. The Puritans were the most successful movement in Christianity to preach progress as a return to purity over an imagined force of corruption (now social institutions in general rather than just the Roman/English Church) as the essence of the unfolding of history.

Anyway these channels are like a decade behind the discourse, people were talking about this when Obama was still in office.

I'm surprised to see you have largely the same take on why burgres are like that as I do. I think that "neo" is correct, however. Certainly the modern group would reject the idea that modesty is in any way good or desirable if asked directly, whereas Puritans were fixated on the concept. It is a classic :marseyhorseshoe:

I disagree with the 'neo' label, indeed: they are the Puritans through and through (literally descended from them physically not just ideologically) just with the natural conclusion of enlightenment thinking and the 60s sexual revolution mixed in. Maybe that would be another fun topic to expound upon sometime.

(:marseywave2: Longpost still in the works, I wanted to tweak it a bit to respond to antisemitism since we do have a few of those around and we're going with a theme of the continuity between the traditions.)

There's a difference between vanilla straight s*x that's at least tangentially relevant to the plot, and gratuitous homosex and/or the director's fetish being hamfistedly inserted into every episode of a show

S*x scenes in movies suck unless they're HEAVILY plot relevant like in Watchmen

Also usually s*x scenes are so cut up and intentionally "de-hornified" it sets up a situation where the only thing being jerked off is the director's ego

I'm on the fence. I absolutely despise when a story gets a shoehorned romance subplot to satisfy the middle-aged foid audience group. On the other hand, avoiding every and all sexual situations in a story is pathetic. Everyone has s*x ( :marseysmug: ) and showing character's relationship can be a legitimate way to give them depth.
