I doubt most of you care but this girl played Callie on BSG and apparently left the show early to devote herself full time to the cult and remained a massive supporter and believer for 18 years, even after the leader was arrested and sentenced to life in prison.

When you see how little rizz these guys have, it's depressing. I could have a harem if I wanted to be cynical and manipulate women, but I'm not that kind of person. But I still kinda want a harem on some level. I can never win.

Honestly I don't think you could cause it's not "rizz" that's at play here, otherwise guys with a ton of charisma and low morals would be doing that all the time. Cult leaders aren't masters of seduction, they're just really good at spirtual multi-level marketing where you sell aspirational identities that are based on yourself. These guys also are more sincere than cynical, despite their obvious hypocrisy and self-interest.

I had a job where I had to interact with pyramid schemes/cults (basically the same thing) up close. What really struck me was that everyone was both guilty and a victim at the same time. The tards being duped thought they were smarter than regular people and were screwing over all of us. The mid-level scammers were working 80-hour weeks and couldn't be making nearly enough to justify that. I never was around the leaders, but I'd imagine that with them too, with the skills they had there was easier ways to make money.

It has to do with the fact that in order to be a victim of a cult (that you weren't just born into) you have to be the kind of self-centered person who is aspiring to a particular identity for whatever reason. It's the same kinda situation when you see a person who's deeply committed to a partner that everyone else knows doesn't really care about them. In both cases the abusive or exploitative treatment either doesn't cause them to leave or even strengthens their resolve to stay.
They really are victims, but the reason they become victims is because they're selfishly chasing after a particular identity that they need someone else to construct for them.
