Yeah bro, the soyboys over at Marvel are so cringe. Before Marvel and funko the soyness was not at all mainstream :marseyclueless:

The entirety of Amerikkkan culture is just one wave after another of soyness.

incredibly tru. i feel like many people dont get that the problem with capeshit is the use of magic, gadgets, "super intelligence" or fantastical powers to begin with rather than the fact that they dress up in silly costumes. as all of the things listened are essentially plot armor and plot contrivances baked into the narrative. fine for something pulpy but if you want to construct a good story with believable characters you should make them just a person. if you make a cowboy narrative you cant make them have unusually good reflexes or eyesight because youre showing your hand that you want to write a video game or superhero movie

also lovecraft is scary capeshit

Dr Who

Agree, literally in the same genre

Bond

In a more subtle way but ok, I see the argument

Holmes

Literally how? And if you start bringing up the modern movies/series I'm going to strangle you

I like Sherlock Holmes, but yes, he’s victorian capeshit. Conan Doyle killed him and then brought him back the same way comics with superheroes.
