To discuss plays of ancient Greece. I’m a complete ignorant on the subject. I only watched a video about Aristophanes and that he mocked Socrates by portraying him as a Sophist in “The Clouds” and that Socrates felt super embarrassed as per Plato on his trial (supposedly he said the laughter at the theater was way harder to confront than any of the accusations on his trial), and that sounds very based to me.
Who were the best playwrights and their best plays?

We hear all the time how the bible was mistranslated. How good are the translations of ancient greek? I imagine all kinds of subtlety is lost

I wonder that too, especially with Homer translations. Is there any classicscel here? I also wonder how hard it is to learn ancient greek just for reading.

You CANNOT go wrong with Robert Stragles
A lot of ppl at my university studied classics (I didn’t, just took a lot of Greek thought and literature classes) and they had to learn Latin and Greek, pretty much none knew any when they arrived. It’s very doable in the right environment. Unsure if you’re in college though?

I’m an almost graduated stemcel (civil engineering, still have to defend my thesis), and there is no classics department where I live (medium sized city in southern Brazil). So probably hard for me to learn as a hobby.
