I think Nobel Peace prize is worse than the literature one. For literature you have to at least write something, for peace prize there are no solid criteria and you can receive it by bombing children or simply being a woman
Winning a prize nay bestow prestige on an unknown literally who, but after 30 years of giving an award to nobodies, the prestige wears thin and winning it stops meaning anything.
Where are the Faulkners, the Hemingways, the Albert Camus, the Herman Hesses, the John Steinbecks, the Pearl Bucks, the Solzhenitsyns?
One the province of giants, it's now an award for minnows. SAD!
gulol archipelago was def one of the best works of fiction in the 20th century. As far as recent winner go Tokarczuk, munro, and grass definitely deserve it. You should probably read more
Darn. I thought I had never read a book by a nobel prize winner, but now you made me look up the list and there are not just one but two (three if you count having heard a Bob Dylan song I guess)
The Bible tells us that pride comes before the fall, and it seems to me that the person who made this comment is suffering from a serious case of pride. It's sad to see how far the person has fallen, and I can only hope that they will find their way back to the path of righteousness.
France typically wins the nobel prize in literature, but frogs and the US need to throw some bones to the host region every now and then. That being said, usually I enjoy Eastern Europeans who win the prize since I usually have never heard of them and the quality of their writing is surprisingly good even translated.
They're waiting for him to die so they have an excuse not to. Unfortunately Louise Gluck, bob dylan (lol), and Munro winning within the same decade means no English laureates for the foreseeable future

The Nobel Peace Prize has always been the most political and stupid of the bunch, and is definitely the most criticized one.
