Do you really need a 7000 page expose on the mechanics of lightsabers to enjoy a story?

Ultimately a story at its core fundamental hasn't revolutionarily changed in the last 100 years. You can get people excited about taking a fat shit. You just have to be a good writer. Rembrandt painted random bushes throughout the Dutch suburbs that had probably gone ignored for decades. He discovered their beauty and brought it out of their mundane appearance.
