Now that I think about it, all the classics are fricking somber. I can't recall reading a single happy book but I remember dozens that made me cry.
Anyway the most heart-wrenching was Pastors eat pwussy too by Quan Millz, a powerful story of power against prejudice and the meaning of faith in America.
I think the only book that ever actually made me seriously emotional/close to crying was Paradise Lost. The interactions between Adam and Eve and the way that Adam talks about Eve, especially after getting kicked out of Eden, are really beautiful and emotional in a way that I didn't expect at all. Also there is a moment in one of the World of Warcraft books that is really sad, I don't remember which one but I think was in Sylvanas.
