Ideally maybe like a sci fi or fantasy novel with thrilling adventure, vivid action and clever politics (not game of thrones or anything drowning in cynicism please) but I'm open to any kind of recommendation, like a good literature novel or something nonfiction about history maybe if you can convince me that it's a good read.
It's either this or leveling in Fortnite to earn the Peter Griffin skin, help me engage in an adult pastime for once, rDrama.
Edit:
Here's the list so far based on your recommendations
Stranger in a strange land
Notes from Underground
Shadow & Claw: the first half of The Book of the New Sun

I'm reading "Notes from Underground" right now and it's eerie how similarly the main character thinks as me. I strongly recommend it to any other mentally fricked up !Christians.

What's this about and who's it by?
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
It's by Fyodor Dostoevsky and the translation I have has the recommendation of a Catholic bishop on the back. As of where I'm at right now, it's this utterly fricked up "we live in a society" type guy sitting in his apartment in St. Petersburg talking about the un-meaning of life. I just finished part 1, presumably part 2 is where the "why everything this guy says is wrong" comes in.

I've read the bean books, I think they're okay.

Ya, I agree.
After the first book, the rest of the Bean series gets really geopolitical, then weird.
The Ender Series is definitely better than the rest of the Bean Series. I just happen to prefer Enders Shadow to Enders Game.
Enders series is more of classic sci-fi moral exploration involving very well developed (by the author) sentient species/beings/civilizations, and is much stronger.
Overall, you really feel the main character driving the themes of the books. Bean's series turns into a thriller with a cold calculating genius battling and outsmarting his enemies. Enders series is more thoughtful and emotional, reflecting Enders grief and search for redemption as he finally starts to engage with society again (human and alien).

Musicophilia my Oliver Sacks
It's a very well written book about his many neurology patients, specifically the ones that had interesting stories with music, from Alzheimer's patients who couldn't remember their names but could still okay beautifully complex music, to the famous man who got hit by lightning while in a phone booth and ended up leaving his life to pursue a career as a professional orchestra pianist, despite never touching a piano before

It's a sci-fi book about a war with aliens. The big thing is it takes centuries to travel from one spot to another and they do it by some time skip thing. So a ship will arrive to fight centuries later and all the tech and stuff has changed. There's no way to communicate during the skip/jump, but the people don't age. It's interesting

For fantasy I would say Lies of Locke Lamora, The Name of the Wind, The Witcher(slow but good), and The Way of Kings are good choices, not to cynical or silly. As for literature I would recommend Paradise Lost, the Divine Comedy, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the Odyssey or Iliad, or the Aeneid. History is hard to recommend unless your interested in history, I would recommend watching a few YouTube videos about random historical periods or wars and base your book choice of what seems the most interesting from that, good channels for this would be Historia Civilis, History Marche, and Epic History TV.

The Accursed Kings series by Maurice Druon. It's historical fiction set around the 14th century French royal family, the Avignon pope, and some Italian merchants. It largely adapts actual history, but always goes with the most scandalous/ridiculous historical account. It's a bit silly at times and the schemes are a bit simple, but that's because it's based on real events. Robert of Artois is a giga chad. 6 of the 7 books are worth reading.

Have you read Snow Crash? Prophetic near-future dystopia that half of the Valley is trying to make come true.
I loved Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell which is like whimsical light fantasy about magicians. If you want something historical, Devil in the White City is a great read (takes place at the World's Fair in Chicago, hometown of rdrama.net)
In terms of more litfic, I liked Normal People and Either/Or, and I will always, always shill for My Brilliant Friend, but all of those might be more girly picks (although I really think the Neapolitan Novels should be read by everyone)

Liu Cixin is the author. It has very novel aliens, questions about whether terrestrial life should be considered worthwhile, an interesting answer to the Fermi Paradox, the Cultural Revolution, preparations for invasion by a technologically superior species and two sequels that are actually novel enough to stay compelling. Carp got me to check out the sequels and they were probably some of my favorite books I read this year

@Klenny note that the first book is extremely necessary to understand the second two books, but it's not reflective of the pace or tone of those at all, though it is quite good its not at all indicative of what will be
1 is like largely about math and china and stuff and takes place over a few decades and mostly just sets the stage for whats to come
2 is predominantly earth-focused and super interesting and spans a few hundred years
3 isuniversal and deals with eternity and is fricking NUTS
the trilogy is fascinating and some of the most compelling stuff ive ever read
