Which book should I go for?

I would just advise you about "Le Carre" that he's mostly a fraud. He supposedly was this really importantly spymaster who had to quit because he got burned by Kim Philby. And couldn't be analyst or take any other desk job after that. We're just supposed to believe him that he wasn't fired for being mentally unstable.

Which he definitely is. He's the worst kind of butthurt bong: He came of age shortly after WW2 and was extremely butthurt at Britain losing its empire and left-wing at the same time. (This was actually pretty common.) He was absolutely seething about America, an anti-imperialist power, freeing the peoples of the world from his empire... so he decided that suddenly he was against imperialism and Americans were the real imperialists because... like... they did business in these countries. Which is basically the same thing as the Amristar Massacre.

I'm not bringing this up because I disagree with him, but because over the course of his life this grows more and more extreme to the point where by about the 1990s the guy is just a raving lunatic who has nothing else to say. His work is autobiographical to some degree. I believe the parts about how he's butthurt about the Americans bringing in better intel and definitely the part about being a bitter raging cuck. I don't know for sure if he was ever cucked by an American, but a guy who writes autobiographical novels about getting cucked and hating America, you gotta wonder.

He's got a lot of similarities to Robert Fisk, another bong left-winger who was really just motivated by hatred for America and his own personal demons, except they were kind of the opposite. Fisk was pretty obviously working for MI5 or MI6 but denied it, "Le Carre" claimed to be a spy but probably washed out.

Of the three, I've only read Tinker Tailor and I liked it, though I remember liking The Honourable schoolboy even more.
