Are Foundation books past the first three worth reading?

Foundation's Edge (1982) is a science fiction novel by American writer Isaac Asimov, the fourth book in the Foundation Series. It was written more than thirty years after the stories of the original Foundation trilogy, due to years of pressure by fans and editors on Asimov to write another,[2] and, according to Asimov himself, the amount of the payment offered by the publisher.

This doesn't sound particularly promising.

Nostalgia trip. Edge and Earth take you on a tour of all the worlds of Foundation and the Robot novels (which are unconvincingly tied together in these books) in the company of two idealised versions of Asimov (old and young) and a chick called Bliss who has an epic butt. Not bad if you like Asimov- I had fun.

Prelude is stronger: really fleshes out Trantor, the ecumenopolis at the heart of the empire and does a better job of tying the Robot and Foundation books together. The major problem is that this book was the main crib sheet for the Apple TV show.

Only read the first few chapters of Forward the Foundation- it wasn't very compelling.

Edit: if you really want more Asimov and you've read the Foundation trilogy and the Robot novels, might I suggest The End of Eternity- it's about an incel who accidentally destroys a time travelling civilisation through chuddery and creates the Foundation universe.

I only read 4+5 besides the trilogy, I wouldn't recommend. Not horrible but he was clearly in a slop era
