Hmm.. The young master refused to dual cultivate with me despite the fact that I cultivate the Heavenly Carp Fragrance... Indeed, this "Young Master Marsey" is not simple..

Autism always helps, but the gist is "cultivation" is a concept prominently featured in wuxia novels that's vaguely based on Taoism/Eastern philosophy. There is no single definition because every novel has its own byzantine idea of what cultivation means. For example:
Your soon to be Gary Stu must advance through 10000 cultivation steps by fighting, meditating, taking copious amounts of drugs and completing trials. The end result is becoming some kind of god and ruling over your fellow peons.
Of course, until you discover that the rival ching Chong ding dong sect led by one of your uncles has attained a higher level of cultivation in the dingaling realm and the MC has to go and genocide the entire clan (they were courting death after all). A jade beauty may be involved as well, but the mc won't interact with her because women are a distraction from cultivation and at the heavenly wing Wang level you become able to suck your own peepee better than any woman could anyway.
I hope this clears things up.

The Cradle series by Will Wight is pretty good. Slop but entertaining, written in English, and not anywhere near as neurodivergent as the authentic chink stuff

is it though? the cast feel like a bunch of rpg characters who spend every waking second training their madra. they don't feel real or present any unique perspectives on anything other than getting more madra.

It's not really comparable to Chinese cultivation stories imo. He gets a heck of a lot more powerful but there's no mediation for decades or stupid power ups or whatever
Still good and worth reading tho

Read a good deal of it when I was 15, came back to it recently but got a bit bored by Chapter 80.
It's miles better than Chinkslop by virtue of actually being written in English, but you can still tell the author is a Czech whose experiences with the language mostly boiled down to Naruto fanfic.

Yeah, it could definitely do with some thorough editing and trimming down to fix the pacing issues. Still worth reading IMO
