Shane Johnson came out as Lora Johnson at some point but unfortunately when you've written several books you're gonna get deadnamed all over the place forever. Her books are definitely not cannon and occasionally had ideas that I thought were stupid but for the most part they were a heck of a lot of fun. I owned three of those. She had a great idea (that should have been made into an episode on TNG) that after the Iotians meet the Enterprise crew and find McCoy's communicator they decide to pattern their entire society after Starfleet and they all walk around in Starfleet uniforms all day. Seems like a great way to do a comedy episode about the Trek fandom, especially the nerds who go to conventions and cosplay and all that.
