It's kinda fricked up because despite how much of modern science is built on this concept, I'm not sure if there's a single agreed upon definition of what "observation" even means besides some handwavy "information about an event leaks... somewhere"

why is a planet existing with the qualities of earth mean sentience might be pre-determined? cant it be just because the universe is really big with a lot of combinations of any possible outcome happening somewhere? of course sentient life would exist in place where its possible, rather than not??

Jesus it literally just says that instead of treating probabilities as independent you should treat them as conditional. It doesn't make any statements about the likelihood of an event, instead it predicts the likelihood of you observing an event. Similarly it does not offer any info on why things are the way they are so it is NOT and should not be used as an explanation to anything either

Both. Merge it all. It's a simulation on a dyson sphere, earth is 4.6B yrs old, dinos were a pre-alpha to us, jesus was an admin outside the simulation with console access. The holy trinity still stands- just different forms of the admin interacting with us.
Simulation theory and christianity basically explain each others unanswered questions, but only if you try really hard to look for connections and want it to work.
