Standardized exams like this are a very poor filter for intelligence or ability. You end up with a population or "higher tier" people who just learn to memorize and are incapable of independent thought. Sexy Indian dudes in the US tech industry are notorious for their inability to think outside the box or do any sort of research.

I used to believe the whole 'Indians in tech' thing was a bit overblown. The company I work for just opened an office in India and holy shit. If a task requires any thought beyond 'follow this exact list of instructions step by step' they completely shut down. And these people supposedly have masters degrees and PhDs (from Indian universities).

The company I'm currently at hires them because they cost 1/3 of a white guy. Problem is they're so incompetent that the teams have to do the work for them or else their inability to complete projects decreases our bonuses. They put secrets in git and use Microsoft OneDrive for their code before copy pasting it into the git folder. They also don't update their local branches which means you can't edit their code because they don't pull the changes. Their solution to secrets being in git is to delete the repo to hide what they did instead of making new secrets. They also don't squash their commits so the master branch has hundreds of commits named "update".

Even worse, they filter for people who didn't even put in the work to memorize stuff but just have an innate talent for taking tests. You really can score much higher than someone with the same knowledge just by having your brain oriented the right way for test taking. It doesn't mean you're going to be better at a job. In fact the same spergy qualities that make you good at taking tests are probably going to interfere with you actually getting anything done in the real world.
