I live near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There was a lot of hype about the new black superintendent taking over the park in 2015. I couldn't really tell any difference under his reign until he started charging to park (it was famously free to enter and park for many years, and there's some debate about whether it being free is a legal requirement for GSMNP). Every time I see him speaking publicly he's moaning about how black people don't feel welcome outdoors or know about the benefits (he's from the other side of the state, Memphis). I'm just waiting for him to offer blacks free parking so someone can sue and stir up some spicy drama.
