I saw an ad for a payday loan of all things while I watching the Bears game yesterday, prime time Sunday evening national television and there's a full 40 second advert showing a guy needing cash to go to a fricking concert.
I mean sure, but you're talking about 1-3 months of gains on 4 installments of $7 times however much delivery slop you order in a given month. Going through all that hassle to pick up pennies is /h/peakpoor behavior, and spending enough on consumable bullshit that you can actually benefit from BNPL services is also /h/peakpoor behavior.
I have seen people with zero credit use payday loan to build credit. Literally just borrow $1000, pay it back before the terms, but this is the exception not the rule.
Goyim do you legit just try to argue with everything, even to the point where youre claiming taking out payday loans for your credit is in any way defensible?
Payday loans almost certainly do not report to credit agencies, so no, im not saying that. I'm saying getting a loan and paying it off will do more for your credit than getting a prepaid credit card that you pay off on time.
My point is even with no parents or poor parents you can make money in america if youre willing to work. You have to actually just be lazy to stay poor here.
Maybe but I'm pretty sure most wealth is generational and I assume the people you're referring to that not only have the motivation but also the intelligence to lift themselves up out of poverty are probably 1 in 10000 or fewer (most people are poor, lazy AND r-slurred)
The top 1% or something, where the wealth is so large that they literally cant spend it all in their lifetime; and in the modern economy the best way to make money is to have money, so its easy to keep being rich.
But a middle clas,s decent, livable life isnt gated behind having middle class parents.
I don't think you realize how much generational wealth applies to middle class too - the difference between your middle-class kid getting a STEM job or flipping burgers
Generational wealth is immediately squandered by the heir. Its only the dozen ultra wealthy families where it lasts because they had the foresight not to give everything to their heirs in a lump sum.
"Generational wealth" doesn't just refer to millionaire kids. The ability to claw your way out of the middle or even lower-middle class can depend on if your parents saved up enough money to get you through a decent college.

So you don't understand what a check cashing place does? The bank puts a hold on your check until it clears, the check cashing place charges you a fee and gives you the rest immediately.
Wrong. Even if you have a bank account, you may have to pay $4 fee to withdraw at the local ATM. You might as well pay the check cashing place, probably comes out the same.
I don't know why you keep insisting on getting dunked.
Believe it or not there are still businesses in TYOOL 2024 CY+9 that don't do direct deposit. They're almost exclusively tiny mom&pops that think they're out-jewing the banks by not paying the $1.50 for the direct deposit and instead spending an extra hour on payroll.

Yep, I consider it my responsibility to avoid as many stupid fees as possible. Don't take out loans, don't get unnecessary insurance, prefer high deductable when I do...
It's a predatory place that'll cash your paycheck for a fee. They're set up in low income neighborhoods where it's risky to open a bank. They kinda made sense in the day when you had to go to the bank and cash a check. With direct deposit and online banking there's really no reason to go to one unless you want to immediately cash your paycheck and buy totally legitimate merchandise with it.
No. They're not there because it's risky to open a bank. They're there because the bank will wait for the check to clear before giving you the money and these people need the money now and are willing to pay for that.
Martin Luther King gave a speech in West Philadelphia in which he called for "Freedom Now," which is marked with a historical sign. I'm so sad that it closed, but right across the street from that sign used to be a check cashing place called "Currency Now."

How is that predatory? I get how loans can be predatory, but check cashing for a fee in place where bank won't open? How's that predatory?
They take a percentage of your check. Usually a few based on the check. Where they get you is they offer cash advances that are at like 350 - 500% interest. Anymore you can open a bank account from your phone and cash a check for free. You can even get high yield savings accounts that give you about 5% interest. You can even get high yield checking that pays about 1%.
I see the poors are pretending to be big wallet niggas again est. 2016
Hello, welcome to 'I see the poors are pretending to be big wallet gangstas again'
This hole exists as a safe space for refugees from the Facebook(MetaTM groups of the same name. Of which there have been several iterations. We mostly exist to poke fun at the state of living in poverty. While it oftentimes is unavoidable, we do aspire to not be meanspirited. Over the years we have co-opted the term 'Peak Poor' to being someone who exudes poverty, regardless of their actual net worth. Trump and Elon both exhibit the peak poor ethos from time to time while still being the top 0.000001%. You can do something peak poor and still be a good person or a generally adjusted one. We all have a bit of poor in us.
We basically fill a niche similar to fatpeoplehate with a bit less actual malice.
PeakPoor is shotgunning mountain dews at 5 years old.
PeakPoor is not people dying of poverty. While technically the greatest heights of poverty is succumbing to it this is not funny, and is a failure
of capitalism. We do not make fun of poverty to be mean spirited such as that.
Read the room, if it's punching down too hard or really digging into someone whos a sympathetic character it doesn't belong here. (basically READ THE ROOM)
Sitewide rules apply

Subscribe to this hole, it's important that we get our numbers up. Love numbers = peak poor
Bonus points for making your post title some variation of peak poor. (Pinnacle of Poverty, Prowess of the Penniless)
I am looking for a mod who will help me grow this place and encourage the facebook community where the majoryity of our members reside
to migrate. Contact me if interested.
I really do love you all so very much, i'm even spending drama coin to get some banners and marseys. thanks for being a part of the community.

Dont get arrested? Literally all of these are problems that only exist if you're an r-slur and have put 0 effort into learning how anything works.
Why would you even need a payday loan when credit cards exist?
