As a motherlover who skated by higher education and connectionmaxxed to nepo my way into a job, I cant even imagine being that poor. Im clearing $95k and I've only been working out of my masters for a little over a year. A gf would literally be able to work mcdonalds and that would basically just be a vacation fund for us lmao

These people either fit into one of two categories:
I make $52k Canadian just by myself, and I can very easily live comfortably, even with everything going on here.

How could one single individual not find a comfy niche for 57K
Just live in a less expensive suburb of a 1-2M metropolitan area

Or just, gasp, move to one of the hundreds of cities across America with populations around 100k and astoundingly low COL. Median house in Quad Cities is <$180k right now.

You could rent a modern 1 br + utilities in places like Omaha for like a grand a month. Literally making bank if you earn 57k annual there, plus groceries and other outings arent as expensive. They'll tell you, however, that this is impossible because who the frick wants to live in middle of nowhere Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma...?

I have to live in NYC because they have concerts (which I can't afford), restaurants (which I can't afford), sports (which I can't afford), etc.
The irony is that if you lived in a LCOL city and saved, you could actually afford to take advantage of big city amenities when you visit, while if you live in the hustle and bustle full time you never will.

Yup. A friend of mine became an attorney and moved out to middle of nowhere nebraska. Hes clearing 6 figures and does exactly this. His 2 bedroom + parking is $1400 so he just saves up and flies out on long weekends to enjoy life outside of his middle of nowhere shithole. We tend to meet up in Vegas and Denver since he can drive to Denver and quickly fly to Vegas. Dude has membership with mgm or some casino grp so he gets us pretty solid perks too

Funny you chose Omaha because I had a friend who lived there and apparently there's like a real estate cartel that makes everything fricking expense.

Idk man, these amenities at these prices seem like a fricking steal. Two on this list have fricking indoor pools so you can swim year round and the apts themselves look pretty nice. It may be omaha expensive but that shit in NYC goes for quadruple the price, maybe double in non-first tier cities

I remember stirring the pot on reddit during covid when people were going "erm the 2k (or more?) maximum for CERB isn't enough for ANYONE to live" by saying my mom was disabled and raised a family on 1.7k and most disabled people who can't work at all are only getting 1.4k max
Idk why they always dilute their points by claiming stuff like that. They did it during the teachers strikes too
