I repaired a phone, only to brick the bloody thing a few minutes later :marseygigaretard: :tayhyperdab:

Decided to channel my inner Hugh Jeffreys yesterday and replace the screen on a phone what i broke ages ago. The repair itself was actually pretty fun, albeit not perfect, and it worked really well for all of 30 minutes before i tried flashing a new custom rom onto it. In my finite wisdom, i tried to reboot back into the recovery menu, only to find out that the new rom had overwritten the previous recovery menu and replaced it with nothing. It's boot looping now and i haven't found a way to make it stop :) I've unplugged the battery in the hopes that it might sort itself out after a day or two, but otherwise there's a way to flash the stock firmware back on that didn't work.

Sucks too. Despite the fact that it's like the quintessential pov indian c*nt phone, it has reasonably good specs considering how much it cost and there doesn't look to be much on the market that fits my incredibly narrow definition of a good phone is (doesn't look offensively ugly). anyways if you'll excuse me i'm going to start a phone repair kiosk in a shopping centre now

How did you even manage to break a phone made these days? :marseyconfused2:

The Chinese children that built this did a pretty shocking job. The factory installed adhesive that connected the screen to the rest of the phone was weak as shit so a 20cm drop was all it took.

Chinese factory phones are top tier, please spreading libel :!marseyindignant:

CrDroid. Usually I'm more of a HavocOS kind of person but it hasnt been updated for this specific phone since like 2021

And you of course didn't skip the backup of NAND part ?

There isn't any way for me to restore from a backup currently. I booted into Android once before it started bootlooping so if I can just get back into Android again she'll be right I think

Can't you use adb and fastboot to get a new recovery on the phone?

It tries to immediately boot to recovery mode so doesn't respond to the key combo for fastboot. I did manage to boot it to Android before this, and think it's bootlooping specifically because I tried to reboot to recovery from android. Hence, my rationale for removing the battery is that the ram or whatever will reset itself, so when I put the battery back in it'll (hopefully) boot like normal, and then I can go back into Android and fix everything.

I remember doing something similar with my OG modchipped Xbox where I fricked something up. Had to buy a new motherboard, solder an eeprom flasher to my old motherboard, then to the new motherboard and flash the old eeprom onto the new chip, because otherwise the HDD or DVD drive wouldn't be recongised.

Point is, it's only broken if you give up now.

Did that before, bricked a phone trying to downgrade to Oreo because reeee Android changed the volume key behavior. I think it was something like the recovery partition was encrypted but i didn't discover that until after i wiped the main partition

Took 9 months before an RUU was available to unbrick it, which i performed on a new years eve while my wife hosted a little party in the kitchen

Let the battery die and try again. And if that doesn't work, try again. Boot/BIOS shit can be inconsistent, so don't give up!

Wife is J-pilled, parents are open and never opposing to my distain for jews and my love of history and the NatSoc movement. Sister in law is bleeding heart liberal, but not extreme leftist still shuts down and won't talk when cornered in an argument against her beliefs.

Anyways, today somehow jews came up and WWII which got the comment “Hitler was the most evil man” my wife overhears, rolls her eyes, gets ready for the speech. I casually explain to my sister in law what the jews did to German people before WWII and why Hitler gained power, what he did for Germany, and how the Holocaust doesn't make sense and numbers don't add up.

I talked for an hour straight as she butted in with questions but sat quietly listening as you could see her face deeply question everything she's been told. After an hour she didn't freak out or shut down, just politely said “that's all I can handle on Christmas” and when we hugged goodbye she whispered “nazi” as I whispered “sieg heil” at the same time to each other and everyone burst out laughing.

That would have NEVER happened before. The fact it did means she is becoming much more comfortable with my views which I consider huge win.

Merry Christmas!
