MechE's are weirdos. The frickability list for engineers goes:

  • Biomedical (almost like a doctor, but a doc that drives a Prius instead of a Merc)

  • ChemE (good drugs)

  • Sound engineer (not a real engineer, but a good gateway boy to break into sleeping with musicians. Can tune a guitar.)

  • Civil (broke but cares about his community)

  • Marine (boats, natch)

  • Software (not a real engineer, but at least they're rich)

  • petroleum (rich if you can stand a Texas accent)

  • EE (like a broke SE)

  • MechE (will fix things for you around the house, but with "clever" and "elegant" "improvements")

  • Train engineer (Pro: drives a train. Six year old you would be very excited. Con: probable railfan. :marseydramautist:)

I dunno at my school the comp sci guys were in a league all of their own. Like the other engineers (mech e included) would still go to parties and get drunk like normal college kids. But the comp sci kids would just take over a classroom and have a smash tournament while stinking up the place. If the other engineering classes were 10% neurodivergents, comp sci was 50% neurodivergents at least, it was incredible.

I've found biomed engineers to be mostly grifters, I think most of them are r-slurred, probably the dumbest of all engineering professions. So good if you want a dumb frick buddy I guess.
