All I know is that Sasha (who came up in conversation with my physical therapist yesterday because I still talk about her all the time) was a very refined Protestant lady.  If you got her one of these she would politely sniff it as a sign of respect for you but decline to actually use it because she doesn't indulge in luxuries.
(This is not just unironic but empirically proven.
