Last time I went kayaking I went through a canal and on the way back a giant gar kept trying to attack me.
Thing would smack the water so hard and hit the bottom of the kayaks.

Think of a long hallway of water out to the lake.
No shores just walls, and the water is especially deep for boats so if you fall in you're gonna have to swim it for a long time.
