There was a half-life muiplayer mod like that. Everyone played as a scientist, and your team would research new weapons at faster rates if you had more Whatevers. You could also steal briefcase of "tech" from the other team to boost your own.

Yes but I had no idea how a single thing worked and I could not get past the first level, same thing with Fallout 1 and 2
