The whole fluoride thing is r-slurred.
A lot of countries don't do it and its effectiveness is still debated. Fluoride treatments and fluoride toothpaste seem to have a scientifically observable impact but redditors are so obsessed with being anti working class that they became contrarian over it.
The best they have are examples of kids with brown teeth who consume fluoride rich water way beyond whats considered safe.

flouride is good for your teeth when you apply it in high doses, let it sit for a few minutes and spit it out, butt having small amounts in the water arguably has little effect on dental health(if you dont brush, butt drink flouride water your teeth will still be fricked) while quite likely having adverse health effects most notably on the brain. There is no reason to just mindlessly pump it into the water when you consider the cost benefit analysis

When i read studies on it a while ago, they discovered municipalities put fluoride in the water because everyone else was doing it.

Well I just think its better to lean on the safe side of any issue that could be dumbing down the population. Just give people free fluouride pills or regulate more flouride in toothpaste if people really need more flouride. If I was running any first world country I would want to totally brainmaxx the population, like handing out fish oil and multivitamins in public schools and shit.

I mean you will get a serious disease overdosing almost any vitamin or mineral, even if it's normally good for you. Watch chubbemu he has great videos about people who overdose on like flinstones gummies and shit
The reality is that everything is like this. Like for example antioxidants have an oxidizing effect if you take too much. The body is a pretty amazing self-regulating chemical reaction, but exposing yourself to any massive chemical imbalance is like exposing a snail to salt.
