It's because the simple act of conveying the information is enough to muddy the waters or reorient the narrative. The vast majority of people do not care, so when down the line he is trying to remove the gay chemicals, some opposition can go "well he was fact checked by the grey lady of journ*lism" and that will be sufficient for a large number of people. Same as when reddit was getting a full blown disinfo campaign over project 2025 on it. Trump flatly stated it has nothing to do with him and he won't implement it, but redditards of course believe the sky is falling because dnc shills spammed it enough. There is too much noise in the modern world for the vast majority of people to be able to differentiate lies from truth
