Melanated and big lipped individual, here. I Literally don't know a single person in my family that has ever voted. They don't have any particular reason why beyond that they don't pay attention to elections and can't be bothered to show up at the polls. Reddit likes to blame voter suppression, but the truth is that even if you remove every possible barrier and canvasmaxx in every black neighborhood, most black people don't even attempt to vote.
Black people will complain about the system ignoring them, but if you're a politician trying to get reelected, it makes no goddarn sense to try to appeal to groups who can't be bothered to support you in any meaningful capacity.
