I genuinely don't get it. There's no equivalence between the evangelism of Christianity and Judaism. Jewish religious rules require skepticism and resistance against people even asking to convert, and Jews do not see about 99% of rules that apply to them to apply to others at all.

Jews are called to fulfill their mitzvot (virtuous acts), but no one else really is. That is the actual meaning of "chosen" -- it means to be among the chosen to carry the burden of fulfilling the mitzvot. It is like being chosen for conscription into service to G-d.

And Jews frankly find it confusing that anyone would want that burden if they aren't born into it. It's like volunteering to fight in Vietnam.
