I wonder how many redditors genuinely believe Putin is spending tremendous resources gaslamping them with bots and propaganda and whatever. Whenever they see a post they don't like, the first thing they do is assume it's a bot programmed to combat the truth that they're Correct and Good. It's like they genuinely think they're fricking thought leaders that pose a genuine threat that needs to be countered, rather than being just teenagers and r-slurs. It's pathetic.

Every country has troll farms. Difference is Russian troll farms were never concentrated on skewing public perception. Russians used their troll farms to sow political and civil disruption in the target country. For example if you read Reddit transparency reports since 2014 the propaganda that Russia generated had nothing to do with perception of Russia, it was all "Vote Bernie" and "Black Lives matter" No kidding, read them! Russia cares about perception in places like East-Europe and South America but it has never cared how it is perceived in the US.

Look at the history of these accounts for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/wiki/suspiciousaccounts/

Redditors are nuts thinking Russia has CNN, but if Russia is putting in any effort, I wouldn't be surprised of any change in tactics. It's not like they would have a concrete rule since 2016 that they only disrupt. Putin probably is spending relatively large amounts of resources on this kind of stuff.

The point everyone has is that the first half of @shitter_of_pants point is r-slurred, and he's probably a Russian bot.

There was a troll farm which was actually seen- a couple of dozen people working for a (now shuttered) private company in a rented office in St. Petersburg. There's been no proof of any state sponsored mass effort in troll farming and the idea that Russia could make decent bots is laughable.

You're not totally right, yeah there's tons of legitimate dissent on reddit but there are definitely a frick ton of bots on reddit that are indistinguishable.

The fact is, it's borderline trivial for a handful of tech zoomers to spam thousands of accounts using deepseek or llama as their backend. It would cost a country next to nothing to implement some social media propaganda bot program. So why wouldn't they?

BEcause reddit would've had you believe that Kamala was going to win with a 98% landslide, and if you have a minor argument with your partner or family you should break up and go no-contact immediately, and the solution to our economic problems is simply to print more money, and that it's perfectly normal for a natural women to have a massive peepee and balls, that all CEOs are evil, and that if something sounds scientific then it 100% is.

They're fricking spastics with no influence on reality whatsoever. Spending "next to nothing" on any kind of bot program is still way too much.

I mean I dont disagree that reddit is spastic, but you are coping hard right now.

Let me prove it to you:

Reddit's market cap today 40 billion (300% IPO btw)

Twitter's market cap when Elon bought it: 30 billion

Reddit is at least as influential as twitter probably more so today since Elon sperged it up.
