It was 19:12, I believe. That was over a decade ago but my goal this year is to beat that time because I don't wanna admit that my teenage self was faster than my current self. (I'd also love to run a marathon and also hit 1000 miles this year :marseyexcited:)

My current 5k PR is 22:29 :mars#eyitsover:

But it's so hot out and I haven't tried for a new PR in a few months since I've been focusing on distance and just steeling myself to the suffering that comes with summer running . I could probably run a sub 22 if I went for it in this heat but ideally when it cools down my times should (theoretically) skyrocket

Wbu?

I did 16:50 in actual meet but 16:20 in a team time trial on pavement. The funny part is the 16:50 was my freshman year and the 16:30 was the summer before my sophomore year.

That's a good goal. These days I either run at dawn or dusk if I want to run more than 30 minutes, so I'd recommend that if it's conducive to your schedule. I keep saying I'll train for a race at some point but keep putting it off. :marseysleep:

I think you'll be able to hit 1000 miles this year. 20 miles per week average and you're over. Running a marathon off 20 miles a week is tough but doable, as long as your goal is to complete and you don't have a time in mind. If you're trying to go under 4 hours it will be very difficult. Let me know about your progress bc that's a great goal

Jesus Christ so you were one of the real fast frickers category. Mad props to anybody who runs 5ks at that speed because running a 5k at race pace feels like a sprint the entire time.

Running at dawn or dusk is ideal but I end up running around 4 or 5 PM anyway because that's when I usually feel like it and it's usually when I'm done with my day. I don't personally "train" for anything as much I just run based on vibes but I'm sure things are different at higher levels.

I started late January and I only recently made it to 20 miles a week since I was only running a few miles per session at first. I've made it up to half marathon distance in the summer heat so hopefully in the next half of the year I can increase the distance. I just dropped $80 on new shoes too (despite being kind of broke rn) so hopefully that'll help since my previous pair was from a thrift store lol. My only goal for the marathon (at this point, at least) is just to complete but NO WALKING as I want to be a marathon runner and not a marathon finisher.

I'll keep you in the loop. Let me know if you start training for a race. I'm interested to hear more. What's your usual weekly routine?
