I have an assignment to write on gender studies

:#marseycontemplatesuicide:

Its on medieval patriarchy. They made the course fricking compulsory.

:marseyraging: :!marseyraging:

I must start writing it now I've procrastinated as long as I could. Pic related part of the trash reading. Just kill me please.

These 'people' don't have a mind. Its like the :marseystrawman: I used to make out of religious strags in my edgy atheist phase except they actually exist and everyone pretends they are sane for some reason.

Sounds like they want you to argue that modern society is just as misogynistic as medieval times? :marseysigh:

Queer Theory is an integral part of Gender Studies.

>Title: Does Queer Theory Have a Paedophile Problem?

If you want to start a postmodern flamewar, follow up on Derrick Jensen's talk:

:#marseyflamewar:

>medieval patriarchy

:#marseyitsover:

Especially with that "methodology" section. The gender wage gap is debooonked because one paper from the 80s says so.

>Cherry picking is an essential tool of gender studies.

Maybe go with that? :marseyderp:

That first paragraph is basically a Kafka trap: if it's written by a man, then it's all suspect because it's patriarchal knowledge. Never mind what those men are actually arguing about because they're wrong by virtue of being men (prejudiced much? :marseygasp:).

>Ad hominems and red herrings are another set of essential tools within gender studies.

Okay okay. How about this: Gender studies is inimical to empiricism because its own methodology has ruled out the use of statistics and coherent theorizing. Those forms of knowledge have been dominated by men, thus are "patriarchally constructed" (Oakley, 1974; Some Other Mad C*nts, 1983-1988).*

(They have a weird, implied definition of empiricism, but that makes sense because the philosophy of science is another patriarchal offshoot which should be safely ignored).

Advancing those points will get you an F, so argue the opposite point while using their own words. If it sounds stupid, that means you're headed toward a B.**

* & **For example, "therefore, the task of building a new epistomology falls upon the shoulders of such great feminists as.... ???? ????. Surely, their "science" will go somewhere in 2 weeks."

They already built a new epistemology. Women's feelings.

:#marseygoodnight:

But the b-word writing this goes one step further. Even those aren't valid cause they're contaminated by the patriarchy too.

Holy shit... they really hate the objectivity of science.

>want: a "method" closer to a woman's experience

>oppose: objectivity within current science because (presumably) it's a man's experience

It's a human "experience." It's rooted in logic. Why let your cognitive biases interfere?

>abstraction itself is problematic [because men do it]

>objectivity by men in science => objectification of women

lol wat

>therefore use qualitative techniques

Of itself, that's not bad, but you want a coherent theory for pattern recognition; otherwise, it's pointless. Oops, cancelled, those are manly things. Ironically, these gender departments tend to be the most sexist and bigoted of the college campus.

>[therefore abandon statistics] / quantitative methods

Called it! I haven't dabbled in gender studies in many years, and I'm glad to see it hasn't updated since then.

One good thing about the :marseytrain: menace is that entire excerpt is transphobic because it implies "men bad" and "woman good." Obviously, trans women are women, but the dogwhistle is obvious. 3rd & 4th wave feminists deserve it.

>distrust of meta-theorizing + [that last excerpt]

Not even philosophy of science gets a break! :marseylaugh:

Ironically, any debate about 'how to do science' entails philosophy of science. They can't escape the man traps! Ahhhhh!!

Best of luck, :marseypajeet:! :marseywave:

Just ignore all outlines for the essay and write about how the guy who coined the terms gender identity and gender role was a pedophilia apologist and also a p-do himself and groomed this kid and his twin brother so hard making them simulate sexual acts at like age 7 on each other that they both killed themselves as adults. Your cute butch TA will love that.

Some choice quotes to choose from.

"If I were to see the case of a boy aged ten or eleven who's intensely erotically attracted toward a man in his twenties or thirties, if the relationship is totally mutual, and the bonding is genuinely totally mutual [...] then I would not call it pathological in any way."

During subsequent appointments with Reimer and Reimer's twin brother Brian, Money forced the two to rehearse sexual acts, with David playing the bottom role as his brother "[pressed] his crotch against" David's buttocks. Money also forced the two children to strip for "genital inspections", occasionally taking photos. Money justified these criminal acts by claiming that "childhood 'sexual rehearsal play'" was important for a "healthy adult gender identity.

Starting at age six, according to Brian, the twins were forced to act out sexual acts, with David playing the female role—Money made Reimer get down on all fours, and Brian was forced to "come up behind [him] and place his crotch against [his] buttocks". Money also forced Reimer, in another sexual position, to have his "legs spread" with Brian on top. On "at least one occasion" Money took a photograph of the two children doing these activities.

Money held the view that affectional pedophilia is caused by a surplus of parental love that became erotic, and is not a behavioral disorder. Rather, he took the position that heterosexuality is another example of a societal and therefore superficial, ideological concept.

King groomer longpostbot. Did weird sexual shit to young twin boys, lied about the outcome of the case to keep doing more gender reassignment surgeries at Johns Hopkins where he was a pediatrics professor who established it's gender identity clinic.

LGBT history is really cool I don't know why people are all up in arms about children attending drag shows. It's not like the biggest academic contributor to their ideology believed those trains fricking those kids would be just fine
