Yeah I mean if schizo rightoids were killing themselves over Trump would Redditors stop and solemnly ponder the gravity of this act? Sorta doubt it. You'd have a bunch of shitposts about it on the top of the sub for a week and then no one would mention it again except as supporting evidence for how crazy Trump supporters are.
For better or worse, these sorts of acts have lost the sense of deep moral conviction that they used to have, because it's understood that there are also lots of crazy wingcucks out there who will do extreme shit and it doesn't really mean anything. For these acts to have an impact they have to shine a light on a personal story of deep injustice, like the dude who killed himself to start the Arab Spring. Being an extremely online schizo will never qualify.

Earlier this year a guy set himself on fire a couple blocks away from me and the only reason I happened to find out about it was because I looked at the Wikipedia list of self-immolations to find the most ridiculous reasons (an Indian guy who didn't want a movie to be released in theaters). They don't usually advertise this stuff, except for the pro-Palestine people because they think that it's inherently virtuous to martyr yourself for a cause
