The shock wave, but it's very high up so not a factor. Second, the material itself, most of it gets burnt up by the intense combustion, the rest gets broken up into pebble shaped objects. You are thinking of an object which is not designed to explode, like a jet and thinking of how it would vomit chunks of metal while crashing.
