Instead of following the part of UNSCR 1701 that orders Hezbollah to stay north of the Litani River, now they have go back 2km farther. - Wtf would this even accomplish?
Big increase to the size of UNIFIL. - Where are they going to come from?
"allowing UNIFIL to search any point, vehicle, site or home suspected of containing weapons" -
"expanding UNIFIL's maritime mission to involve Lebanese ports and any ships heading to them" - I'm sure everyone shipping stuff through Beirut will be glad to wait for it to be searched.
"deploying observation teams in all of the country's airports" - These would basically be hostages since they would be totally surrounded by Hezbollah.
"building watchtowers on Lebanon's border with Syria" - Again, this is bonkers. You're scattering these guys in the middle of Hezbollah territory.
This is obviously designed so that there's no way it will ever be accepted. Even if the Lebanese accepted it (there's a 0% chance of this) there's no way the UN Security Council would.
Even if this were totally rewritten to drop all those points, the basic premise is incredibly r-slurred. It's what the Israelis have been trying to since the late 1970s: The Lebanese army and UNIFIL to fight their war for them. The only problem is, neither of those have any reason to.
The Lebanese army won't do it because everyone remembers what happened at the start of the civil war. The army broke apart with different soldiers and units taking their equipment and going to fight for different militias. At a time when they should have been a force for unity, they helped tear the country apart. Nobody wants that to happen again. That's why the army has had a strict policy of not getting involved in internal disputes. For example when Hezbollah had its allies crush the Druze in 2008, they just stood by and watched. You know who they will fight against? Israel. That's why they cooperate so much with Hezbollah. UNIFIL isn't going to go around kicking people's doors down and ransacking their homes because why the heck would they? They work for the UN, not Israel.
This was the last chance for a cease-fire before the election. I guess Biden's handlers decided that Israel isn't going to sign anything anyway, so don't do anything that would give Bibi a chance to humiliate him yet again.

Those are absurd. Death to hezbollah and all but they're asking for a military occupation by the UN. Who is this tard's handlers? Is Biden seriously okay with this or has he lost all control?

There already has been a UN military occupation of Lebanon for over 40 years. Israel is just expecting them to actually do something to fight anti-Israel terrorists which is absurd

UN peacekeepers have never acted as an occupying military force. It's a complete nonstarter. This proposal is completely unserious.

I don't understand what people are hoping UNIFIL will do exactly.. They've proven themselves completely useless. Wouldn't it be better not to have them at all?

Me too.
They don't do shit to stop Hezbollah or the Israelis from doing whatever they want. Apparently they just kind of sit back and watch. But there's another way older UN program, IIRC it goes back to 1948, who are there to observe the border. They don't need battalions of troops and heavy weapons to do their job. If UNIFIL isn't doing anything more than observing, they should pull out most of the troops and just leave a few to join the observation mission.

Why would the UN keep Hezbollah in check? idk because the entire reason for Israel withdrawing in 2006 was because of the "guarantee" Hezbollah would be disarmed and the area south of the Litani would be demilitarised.
The new deal is literally just the old deal.
It's shocking that Lebanon is even given the courtesy of an offer as it's evident from history that neither they nor the UN has any intention of actually preventing needless death. Just Israeli retaliation.

Israel didn't withdraw from shit. They were like literally 5km over the border and they weren't even in firm control of that. They accepted as a way of saving face because they wanted the war to end. They didn't expect Hezbollah would really give up all that territory when they were still in possession of about 90% of it just because the UN asked them to. Just like nobody expected Israel would stop violating Lebanese air space or withdraw from the Shebaa Farms.

So what? The reason for their withdrawal was the agreement. You can characterise it as saving face if you'd like but without the agreement Israel would have proceeded with the war, for better or worse.
Shebaa farms is undisputedly Israel territory aquired from Syria and recognised as such internationally, even the clowns at the UN admit this. Why would Israel withdraw from here be part of a deal with Lebanon? You say "nobody expected them" with sarcasm, but the reality is LITERALLY nobody expected them to withdraw from there and it wasn't part of the deal or even on the table.
Boo fricking hoo. As history shows the entire dimilitrised zone was being actively fortified under UNIFILs watch including the construction of vast arrays of tunnel networks some of which go directly under the blue line in to Israeli territory and you think they have a right to complain about us trying to keep an eye on it as it happens? Because remember, that's all this is.... "violations" of the blue line consist of aerial reconnaissance of their illegal activities in the south. Oh but Lebanons violations consist of the murder and abduction of Israelis.
So again, the new deal is the old deal.
Stop the militants in your country from murdering Jews and we won't have to do it for you, it's really that easy.
