I have no reason to doubt this as Italy doesn't have any reason to be biased.

Agreed, but for wildly different reasons.
If Malcolm Kerr hadn't been murdered, Steve Kerr might never have joined the NBA. Even if he did, it likely would have been under different circumstances, if only slightly. Which means he wouldn't be a member of the Chicago Bulls from 1993 through 1998. As such, he wouldn't have been there for the buzzer-beater against the Utah Jazz in Game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals. Which means the Utah Jazz might have won the championship that year. And that means the thousands (millions?) of useless "think pieces" written about why Karl Malone and John Stockton never won a ring wouldn't exist.
In other words, !schizomaxxxers, there is a direct line from Malcolm Kerr's death to an increase in useless "sports journ*lism". And there is no punishment too severe for those that caused it.

Italians once bribed Iraqi insurgents with a briefcase full of cash every month into not attacking them without anyone in the Coalition knowing so when the French took over for the Italians, it was seen as a safe area and the French didn't bother doing any upgrades because it was a safe area. The insurgents came by for their monthly briefcase of cash and told to frick off by the French so the area immediately became a bad area.
